Carrots Support Oral Health

Growing up you may have heard that carrots keep your eyes healthy. While that is true, carrots are also excellent for the health of your gums. Carrots, much like celery, are crunchy and contain high amounts of fiber. When you chew foods such as celery and carrots, your gums are stimulated. Gum stimulation is important because it increases the blood flow and oxygen to your gums thus resulting in great oral health.

Veggies

Leafy greens like cabbage, kale, chard, and collard greens are great for your teeth. These greens are each loaded with necessary vitamins and minerals that assist in maintaining and improving your oral health. Phosphorus is a mineral found in your teeth that works with calcium to create hydroxyapatite which is an important structural component of your teeth and their enamel. It needs the high levels of magnesium, vitamins A and C, and beta-carotene found in these leafy greens to help support it and aid in the continuous health of your teeth.

Apples and Oranges

Both an apple and an orange a day can keep the dentist away. Much like carrots as we mentioned earlier, apples are highly fibrous and crunchy which aid in reducing cavities and stimulating your gums. Apples can also help to naturally clean your teeth preventing plaque build-up caused by other foods you eat throughout the day. If you don’t have time to brush in between foods, eat an apple.

Oranges

Oranges are packed with vitamin C which is excellent for the health of both your gums and teeth. Vitamin C assists in keeping the connective tissues that hold your teeth in place healthy and strong. If your body does not contain enough vitamin C, it could lead to gum diseases and bleeding gums.
