It’s easy to be self-conscious about having bad breath. However, it’s also easy to get rid of it. What do you have to do? Keeping to a daily routine of brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash is a great way to get started. Here are four fantastic tips for what to do next.
Brush, Brush, Brush
If you have bad breath in the morning, go and brush your teeth. Morning breath is never fun, especially if you get up to drink some water before going back to sleep for a little while. Brushing your teeth gets rid of bacteria that is in your mouth hiding there and eating the food particles caught in cavities and other parts of your teeth. Be sure to pay attention to your gums and your tongue, too! If your toothbrush is more than three months old, then it is time to replace it!
Clean the Tongue
As we noted above, take the time to clean your tongue. Depending on the type of toothbrush you have, one side could be a brush and the other is a tongue scraper. Use this tongue scraper after you are done brushing your teeth, but be careful. Look at the condition of your tongue, first. Sometimes, all you need to do is brush your tongue, but in other cases, using an actual tongue scraper will get the job done and help reduce the likelihood of bad breath.
Change Your Diet
What do you eat? Garlic and onions are delicious and they smell fabulous when they are being cooked, but they leave a strong aftertaste that will affect your breath. Drinking alcohol has the same effect, so it’s probably best if you cut back or minimize your consumption even if it is just on principle. Try eating fewer onions, peppers, and of course, garlic.
Drink More Water
Staying hydrated is always a good idea. When you get enough water, your brain allows you to concentrate better and you won’t feel as tired! Getting enough water on a daily basis can be hard to do, but it’s worth it! It helps fight off the effects of dry mouth, which can also give you bad breath!
