Brush Regularly

If you want truly healthy gums, you are going to need to brush regularly. You should be brushing your teeth a minimum of two times a day, but it’s suggested that you try and brush after every meal you have. Also, you need to make sure that you aren’t brushing too hard. Always use a toothbrush with soft bristles, and try to brush for at least two minutes to reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth.

Flossing for Gum Health

Flossing seems like a chore when you first start, but its one of the best ways to keep your mouth and gums happy. Your toothbrush won’t always be able to remove all the plaque in your mouth. If plaque stays between your teeth, it turns in tartar and attracts more bacteria. This can lead to gum swelling and painful inflammation. When you first start out, aim to floss at least once a day. Normally, it will be better to do it at night before you brush your teeth. Once you turn flossing into a habit, you can then add it to your morning routine. You have a much better chance at healthy gums with frequent brushing and flossing as part of your daily ritual.

Chew Sugarless Gum

Chewing sugarless gum shouldn’t be substituted for brushing or flossing. But, it’s an effective little oral health hack that helps keep your mouth clean. If you can’t brush your teeth at work or school, try to chew a piece of sugarless gum for 20 minutes. Regular gum chewing can lead to jaw problems, so make sure that you aren’t excessive.
