Have you already scheduled your next dentist visit? Once you have, there are things you need to keep in mind about keeping your teeth clean. Depending on what your oral health and hygiene routine is like, you might not need a cleaning anytime soon. Even so, there are ways to make sure this stays true until your next visit. Here’s how.
Brush Every Day
It’s always important to brush your teeth every day. Do it once when you wake up in the morning and again before you go to bed at night. Make sure the toothbrush you have features soft bristles, and try to brush after every meal you eat – even if it’s just a snack. Position the toothbrush at your gum line and go up from there before you reach the edges of your teeth. Go inside and out, getting both the front and backs of your teeth. Try to reach the teeth that you can’t easily reach, such as your wisdom teeth.
Then Floss
Once you have finished with your toothbrush, it’s time to break out the floss. Flossing can get rid of any tartar or plaque left behind by food that your toothpaste couldn’t eliminate. To make things even more fun, have your kids floss along with you and show how it’s done. Start at the bottom and make your way up, and get every tooth that you can.
Use Mouthwash
Mint or original? What is your flavor? Even though you might think mouthwash can be too intense for you, you can always choose a flavor that isn’t. In fact, you shouldn’t hesitate to use some of the same flavors your kids do. You’ll only need to swirl it around in your mouth for about a minute, but the important part is the follow-up. Read the instructions on the label and avoid eating or drinking anything for at least half an hour after you’re done. When you keep your mouth and your teeth as healthy as possible, it can help you reduce your anxiety about your next visit, too!
