Brushing your teeth in the shower doesn’t sound like a good idea. All the same, many people across America actually do it. The main reason for this is that it can be a great timesaver when you’re in a hurry to finish getting ready in the morning. No matter when you do it, brushing your teeth will help strengthen your teeth. It’ll also make your mouth healthier, too.
Brushing in the Shower
Even though it’s often viewed as part of a daily routine, it’s entirely possible to forget to brush your teeth. Even doing it once a day is better than not doing it at all. Still, it can help encourage you or your kids to get into the habit of brushing teeth.
Another common reason why people might brush their teeth while in the shower is multitasking. It might take someone longer to apply shampoo and conditioner out of their hair than their partner. So brushing teeth would be something to do in the meantime. Now that we have a better understanding of why someone would brush their teeth in this unusual way, let’s turn our attention to some safety tips.
More Tips
When you brush your teeth the typical way, you stand at the sink in front of the mirror. Doing this will let you see each part of your mouth and presumably guide your toothbrush there. But you might not have the benefit of a mirror when you’re standing in the shower. Plus, even if you do, that mirror will probably be too fogged up with steam to see anything. Take extra time and brush more carefully to make up for this.
Also, it’s not a good idea to keep your toothbrush near the shower when you’re not actively using it. When you keep your toothbrush there for too long, it can encourage the growth of germs and other bacteria who love that warm, wet environment. You don’t want to make yourself sick, especially with all the cases of flu everywhere.
